Description
The Rivega Dance Studio was a brainchild of Rangika Jeewantha and his twin brother Rangana Ivantha who ventured out whilst still in school. That was the year 2001. Duo is a product of Dharmodaya College-Mt Lavinia, Prince of Wales- Moratuwa and Royal College-Colombo.
Rangana has bachelor’s degree in business from University of Charles Stewart in Melbourne.Rangika has completed his Master of Performing Arts from the University of Performing Arts, Colombo. As an accomplished professional Kandiyan dancer (Under Mr. Piyasara Shilpadhipathi, Mr. Y.Gunasena, Mrs. Neranjala Narangoda) as well as he has studied on various other dance styles such as Ballet (under Ms. Niloufer Peiris of Royal Nelung Art Center), and various Indian dance styles such as Kathak, Bharatha and Manipuri & Kathakali from the University itself.
In addition, Rangika has been trained in western dancing (Contemporary, Jazz, Latin) through many workshops and projects organized by Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), Singapore and Royal Nelung Art Centre, Sri Lanka. He has won the Best Performer title in 2006 from CSTD and Outstanding All Island Winner 2007 Affiliated to the British & International Federation of Festival in Music,Dance & Speech Annual Competitive Festival 2007.
Rangika has over 14 years of experience as a dance instructor in Government schools, universities as well as private international schools where he is guiding, teaching, training, coaching and mentoring students with his own brand of traditional, cultural, fusion dance to enrich their awareness on dancing styles.Rangika has researched about Sri Lankan Folk dance in the most unusual manner and as result he developed his own line of folk dances that won accolades from experts.
